Spider-Man: Homecoming: Captain America's Cameo Revealed
Captain America’s cameo takes place in a brief scene that set in the Midtown High School gymnasium during a physical education class. The teacher is showing the class a video in which Captain America himself introduces the Captain America fitness challenge. Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and his friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) are in the class. Ned asks Peter if he’s met Captain America. Parker, recalling Spider-Man’s debut in Captain America: Civil War, notes that he stole Cap’s shield.
In the video, Captain America is wearing the version of his costume that he wore during the events of The Avengers, even though Peter’s comment confirms the scene takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War. That means the video must be dated, or if it is more recent, that Captain America has one costume to wear publicly and another, likely the one used while working for SHIELD in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, for missions.
It should be noted that it is a little strange for a public school to still be using this Captain America Fitness Challenge idea and video after the events of Captain America: Civil War since, with the Sokovia Accords now being law, Captain America and his cohorts are wanted fugitives.
In Spider-Man: Homecoming, a young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.
